MaSat will not sponsor 2014 World Cup

KOLKATA: Mahindra Satyam has decided to pull out of sponsorship of the 2014 soccer World Cup in Brazil as it feels that doing so would not be compatible with its business plans.
"We will, of course, remain as the IT services provider for the next Fifa World Cup," Mahindra Satyam CEO C P Gurnani told TOI on Tuesday. "The sponsorship (of the 2014 tournament) is not in sync with our objectives as an IT company."
However, Gurnani did not elaborate whether the company would also move away from the sponsorship of the next Fifa-organised Confederations Cup at Brazil in 2013 which would precede the 2014 World Cup.
